Looking into Packaging

We knew we wanted to find a sustainable way to send our parcels to our customers, just from a quick google I found quite a few New Zealand businesses that make sustainable courier bags.

Ecobags / ECO-A4 Satchel Compostable Courier bags, made from corn starch and non-toxic inks.

Stone Paper Packaging / Eco Mailer, made from stone paper compostable, photodegradable and recyclable.

GoSweetSpot / Eco-bags, derived from biopolymers and co-polymer; PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate), Corn-starch and PLA (polylactic acid), with no conventional plastics.

r3Pak / Cushioned paper courier bag, made from recycled and FSC certified paper and can be composted or recycled.

r3Pak / Compostable courier bag, made from cornstarch and a few other biodegradable ingredients.

r3Pak / 100% recycled courier bags, do not contain any virgin plastic this even includes the plastic from the removable adhesive backing and the inner packing bag, both are 100% recycled.

What I really wanted to find was a sustainable courier bag with a dual seal, but I could only find ones made from plastic or Tyvek (a synthetic material made from high-density polyethylene fibers) so didn’t really fit with our brand identity.

I will keep looking for a sustainable resealable bag, because that my ideal solutions, theres also the option of courier boxes (which are recyclable and reusable) but they’re quite bulky and good get expensive to ship.
